48 Hour Book Challenge End Post

I still technically have an hour, but since we leave for church in 15 minutes, I'm finished. I did not get nearly as much in as I wanted to. Considering the reading slump I just came out of, I'm just happy I was able to read as much as I dd while enjoying it. Hours Reading/Reviewing: 13 hours Social Media Time: 1.5 hours Books Read: 4 ( Uprooted, The Thief reread, Mechanica , Deep Secret ) Pages Total: 2,117 Reviews for Uprooted and Deep Secret  coming later this week. Here are my quick Goodreads thoughts on Mechanica .

48 Hour Book Challenge First Update

My first 12 hours are up and my stats are seriously lame because life intervened a bit today. I read/reviewed: 6.5 hours Social Networking/Commenting: .5 hours So that's just a total of 7 hours. Pages read 435 Because I read only one book and I'm not even ashamed to say that because I reread several parts of it immediately after finishing. And wrote a gushing review which you can read on Thursday.  Uprooted  is a favorite forever for me now. I LOVED it. I still don't really want to move on which will make continuing this challenge difficult....ugh. Will persevere.

48 Hour Book Challenge Starting Post

I do love and look forward to this weekend every year. I can't quite as all in as I did in the first couple years when I actually slept as little as possible and read the entire time, but it is still fun to read as much as possible and have a weekend dedicated to it. My hope is to get 24 hours in total. I should be able to come close as this is a pool day for me and the kids and my husband wants to go to the lake tomorrow. Those are good environments for reading. I don't have much of a plan this year either. I have three books I've been waiting to read (two of them for a very long time), and I want to start my annual reread of the Queen's Thief this weekend. I will try to knock out some of the ARCs I have on my Nook too. Hopefully this is just my start-up pile and will get through even more. Want to participate? There's still time! Sign up here . ETA: I scheduled this to post at 9:30 AM, but my official start time is 10:00 AM.

48 HBC Final Update

I stopped counting time after my last update. I figured I would barely make 12 hours at the rate I was going so why not just sit back and enjoy? So I did. I had a lovely day exploring the shores of Lake Michigan with my family and reading as much as I could. Here's a summary of the rest of the books I was able to get in. I finished 6.5, just shy of my goal of 8. What I read: My review on Goodreads Review coming next Saturday. (WHY ARE MORE PEOPLE NOT TALKING ABOU THIS BOOK???)

48 HBC Update 2

And so ends the second quarter and first half of my participation in the 48 Hour Book Challenge. I did need to get some  a lot of sleep, but here is what I was able to read: Review will post on Monday. An adult novella to give me some recovery time after Pointe.   Goodreads review here . I read the first quarter of The True Meaning of Smekday  and am going to finish it now. I'm trying not to focus on how sad my numbers are going to look in comparison to my numbers from last year. (Last year I was awesome.) But I really did underestimate how exhausted and ready to crash the move would leave me this first weekend of relaxation in weeks. The Numbers for this Round: Reading: 2 hours 45 minutes (350 pages) Reviewing: 35 minutes Social Media: 15 minutes

48 HBC First Update

Happily reading away. Here are the books I've finished in the first 12 hours: Review here on Goodreads Review coming June 16th! I'm halfway through Pointe  by Brandy Colbert now and it is more intense than I thought it would be not having read any reviews of it since I knew I was going to read it no matter what. I'm taking a break to blog because my brain and heart need it. Totals so far: Reading: 4 hours 25 minutes (695 pages) Review Writing: 25 minutes Social Media: 25 minutes Not bad considering in the last 12 hours I've also cooked a meal, took my kids to the pool for 2.5 hours, and went to the grocery store.

48 HBC Start Post

I love this weekend. I look forward to it every year. I was unable to participate a couple  years ago and it made me all kinds of sad. I won't be able to participate as wholeheartedly as I ordinarily do this year. Usually I sacrifice sleep and leave the complete and total care of my children in the hands of my husband. However, we just moved to a new city. We've been here one whole week so that's not quite as possible. I'm exhausted and eager to explore our new city with  my family. But I have a small goal and will read as much as I can. I tried to keep with the #weneeddiversebooks theme as much as I could, but I didn't have access to a library until Wednesday and had no way to put some of the books I wanted on hold. Here is what I hope to get read this weekend: The books on my Nook: Minion, The Things We Kiss Goodbye, Capturing the Silken Thief That is an 8 book goal which works out to a book every 6 hours. I think I can manage that. Happy Reading!

48HBC: Update The First

12 Hours In! The Books I've Read: The Chocolate Rose by Laura Florand ( my thoughts ) The Problem with Being Slightly Heroic by Uma Krishnaswami (review will post closer to release) The Cadet of Tildor by Alex Lidell (review coming soon) Secrets of Shakespeare's Grave by Deron R. Hicks ( my thoughts ) Number of Hours Reading: 10 hours (I'm pretty impressed I hit it exactly. I wasn't even trying.) Number of Pages Read: 1,436 Time on Writing Reviews: 1 hour; 5 minutes Time on Social Networking/Commenting on Blogs: 25 minutes Time Spent Sleeping: 0 !!!!!! So I read 4/5 books in my first goal. AND managed to not fall asleep. The books were too interesting. The no sleeping thing is over for now. Things are starting to blurr and I'm feeling woozy. I'm going to take a nap, but I will be back to update again this evening after getting some more reading in hopefully. Goals by next update: The Kingdom of Little Wounds by Susann Cokal Hound Dog Tr...

48 HBC: AND GO!

I'm officially kicking off the 48 HBC now. (Ms. Yingling is hosting this year and there is still time to join in the fun !) I am going to see how long I can go without sleep but am not fooling myself that I won't have to stop and take naps. I am going to try my best not to, but I like sleep. It would be nice if I didn't have to though because this is the current state of my TBR: And this doesn't include the e-galleys and recently purchased e-books on my Nook. So to say that I need this 48 hours is an understatement. Here is my goal for the first 12 hours: The Chocolate Rose by Laura Florand The Problem with Being Slightly Heroic by Uma Krishnaswami The Cadet of Tildor by Alex Lidell Secrets of Shakespeare's Grave by Deron R. Hicks The Kingdom of Little Wounds by Susann Cokal Honestly, I'll be happy if I make it through half of those by 8:15 AM tomorrow, when I will update. I read at a pretty good pace, but I slow down as I get tired so who ...
