Feel free to do your own post, just please link back to my blog and tell me about your post in the comments. I throughly enjoyed the first book in this series about Suffragettes in Victorian England, and I'm looking forward to reading all the rest as they come. These characters are so engaging. Lady Lucie is fuming. She and her band of Oxford suffragists have finally scraped together enough capital to control one of London’s major publishing houses, with one purpose: to use it in a coup against Parliament. But who could have predicted that the one person standing between her and success is her old nemesis, Lord Ballentine? Or that he would be willing to hand over the reins for an outrageous price—a night in her bed. Lucie tempts Tristan like no other woman, burning him up with her fierceness and determination every time they clash. But as t...

I was so excited to discover it would have a sequel. I'm loving the cover and the synopsis. CANNOT WAIT!!!! Stacey is jolted when her friends Simon and Emily get engaged. She knew she was putting her life on hold when she stayed in Willow Creek to care for her sick mother, but it's been years now, and even though Stacey loves spending her summers pouring drinks and flirting with patrons at the local Renaissance Faire, she wants more out of life. Stacey vows to have her life figured out by the time her friends get hitched at Faire next summer. Maybe she'll even find The One. When Stacey imagined "The One," it never occurred to her that her summe...

I take the 2nd Friday of every month to highlight some upcoming releases I am looking forward to that I hope are Future Favorites. Feel free to do your own post, just please link back to my blog and tell me about your post in the comments. I JUST read The Bromance Book Club  a couple of weeks ago and FELL IN LOVE. I fell in love with the concept and the characters and the tackling of hard issues. Since both the protagonists of the sequel were introduced in the most delightful ways, I am so excited that I don't have to wait too long for it. Liv Papandreas has a dream job as a sous chef at Nashville’s hottest restaurant. Too bad the celebrity chef owner is less than charming behind kitchen doors. After she catches him harassing a young hostess, she confronts him and gets fired. Liv vows revenge, but she’ll need assistance to take on the powerful chef. Unfortunately, that means turning to Braden Mack. When Liv’s blackballed from the restaurant scene, the charismatic ...

Decades ago, they turned on one another and tore each other apart. Nobody knows why. But are they really gone forever? I take the 2nd Friday of every month to highlight some upcoming releases I am looking forward to that I hope are Future Favorites. Feel free to do your own post, just please link back to my blog and tell me about your post in the comments. Soooo....Elizabeth Wein has written another WWII historical that Jamie will be a character in. That's it. That's my lead in. Enough said. 1940. Facing a seemingly endless war, fifteen-year-old Louisa Adair wants to fight back, make a difference, do something-anything to escape the Blitz and the ghosts of her parents, who were killed by enemy action. But when she accepts a position caring for an elderly German woman in the small village of Windyedge, Scotland, it hardly seems like a meaningful contribution. Still, the war feels closer than ever in Windyedge, where Ellen McEwen, a volunteer driver with the Royal Air Force, and Jamie Beaufort-Stuart, a flight leader for the 648 Squadron, are facing a barrage of unbreakable code and...

Feel free to do your own post, just please link back to my blog and tell me about your post in the comments. How I feel about "Beauty and the Beast" has been long established on this blog. At this point, it should also be pretty clear I'm quite the fan of Sandhya Menon. And now those two things are coming together. In one book. Will the princess save the beast? For Princess Jaya Rao, nothing is more important than family. When the loathsome Emerson clan steps up their centuries-old feud to target Jaya’s little sister, nothing will keep Jaya from exacting her revenge. Then Jaya finds out she’ll be attending the same elite boarding school as Grey Emerson, and it feels like the opportunity of a lifetime. She knows what she must do: Make Grey fall in love with her and break his heart. But much to Jaya’s annoyance, Grey’s brooding d...

I cannot tell you how much love I have for her Above World trilogy, and I was starting to lament that maybe we would never get another fabulous MG from her. BUT WE ARE!!!! And there's a tricky, well-dressed fox! And LOOK AT THE COVER!!!! (All the caps and exclamation points are totally necessary.) After an incident shatters their family, eleven-year old Samantha and her older sister Caitlin are sent to live in rural Oregon with an aunt they've never met. Sam wants nothing more than to go back to the way things were… before she spoke up about their father's anger. But I read the synopsis anyway and that only made my desire for this book grow. Headstrong Anya is the daughter of the only Jewish family in her village. When her family's livelihood is threatened by a bigoted magistrate, Anya is lured in by a friendly family of Fools, who promise her money in exchange for helping them capture the last dragon in Kievan Rus. This seems easy enough—until she finds out that the scary old dragon isn't as old—or as scary—as everyone thought. Now Anya is faced with a choice: save the dragon, or save her family. Release Date: September 24, 2019 from Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Goodreads Guys, this one is a YA retelling of Mansfield Park,  whi...

Future Favorite Friday July 19

I take the 2nd Friday of every month to highlight some upcoming releases I am looking forward to that I hope are Future Favorites. Feel free to do your own post, just please link back to my blog and tell me about your post in the comments. Jason Reynolds has a new MG coming out!!!!! The premise is a fascinating one too. It sounds complicated, but Reynolds is a waste at voice and storytelling, so I'm sure it will be so well done. This story was going to begin like all the best stories. With a school bus falling from the sky. But no one saw it happen. They were all too busy— Talking about boogers. Stealing pocket change. Skateboarding. Wiping out. Braving up. Executing complicated handshakes. Planning an escape. Making jokes. Lotioning up. Finding comfort. But mostly, too busy walking home. Jason Reynolds conjures ten tales (one per block) about what happens after the dismissal bell rings, and brilliantly weaves them into one wickedly funny, piercingly poignant look ...

Feel free to do your own post, just please link back to my blog and tell me about your post in the comments. In April I read and fell in love with Celine Kiernan's Begone the Raggedy Witches . I can not wait to read the sequel. (And pretty much anything else Celine Kiernan wants to write ever.) The old queen and her raggedy witches have fled Witches Borough, and Mup’s family has moved into the cold, newly empty castle. But the queen’s legacy lingers in the fear and mistrust of her former subjects and in the memories that live in the castle’s very walls. While Mup’s mam tries to restore balance to a formerly oppressed world, Mup herself tries to settle into her strange new home with her dad, Tipper, and Crow. When an enchanted snow blankets the castle, Mup’s family is cut off from the rest of the kingdom, and the painful memories of t...

In a split second, Linh was taken—and Hang was left behind. Six years later, she endures a horrifying escape from Viet Nam and arrives in Texas as a refugee, where LeeRoy, a city boy with rodeo dreams, helps her find the brother she thought she’d lost. Marzana and her best friend are bored. Even though they live in a notorious city where normal rules do not apply, nothing interesting ever happens to them. Nothing, that is, until Marzana’s parents are recruited to help solve an odd crime, and she realizes that this could be the excitement she’s been waiting for. In the summer of 1984, 12-year-old Ebony-Grace Norfleet makes the trip from Huntsville, Alabama, to Harlem, where she’ll spend a few weeks with her father while her mother deals with some trouble that’s arisen for Ebony-Grace’s beloved grandfather, Jeremiah. Jeremiah Norfleet is a bit of a celebrity in Huntsville, where he was one of the first black engineers to integrate NASA two decades earlier. And ever since his granddaughter came to live with him when she was little, he’s nurtured her love of all things outer space and science fiction—especially  Star Wars  and  Star Trek,  both of which she’s watched dozens of time on Grandadd...
