I'm not emotionally ready to read the Shepherd's Crown yet and I don't know if I ever will be. =(

I had not seen An Inheritance of Ashes before. I went to Goodreads to check that one out and added it to my TBR. It sounds good and I was interested in the cover. I also haven't ready any of Terry Pratchett's stuff yet. He sounds like a great author.

Oh, right: the Poe Estate! Keep forgetting about that one. Almost bought The Shepherd's Crown the other day but the lineup at the bookstore was too long (and a part of me is saving it for when I really need it.)

An Inheritance of Ashes is marvellous. It's on my To-Be-Reviewed list.

I should have put Serpentine on my list too. I loved Silver Phoenix.

Dumplin' and All the Rage were two of my favorites from 2015 and I hope you enjoy them too.

Honestly, the only Pratchett I've read is the Tiffany Aching series, but I want to read so much more. I need more time.

Piecing Me Together

A couple years ago  This Side of Home was one of my favorite reads so when I found out we were getting a new Renée Watson book this year it automatically became one of my most anticipated reads. Piecing Me Together lived up to all my expectations and then some. Jade lives in north Portland but goes to the fancy private school St. Francis on a scholarship. She knows this is her greatest opportunity to go to school and get out of Oregon. It can make her feel like she is living a dual life though. Her first two years there were successful academically, but she didn't make many friends. As her junior year begins, Jade is asked to join a mentor/mentee program for "at risk" girls called Woman to Woman. She's not really sure she needs it. Shadowshaper  by Daniel José Older is everywhere. Best of lists. Award buzz. Blogs everywhere. It's one of those books everyone is reading and talking about. I had it on my TBR but decided I definitely needed to read it before the year was out just so I could weigh in on one of the most talked about books of 2015 if asked. It is deserving of every good thing said about it. Every. One. Sierra was looking forward to a relaxing summer break. Her plans involved hanging out with her friends and painting. The Penderwicks in Spring

The Penderwicks is not just one of my favorite ongoing series; it is one of my favorite series of all time. I'm always astounded by the depth of emotion and diverse, realistic relationship dynamics Birdsall is able to capture with these characters. The Penderwicks in Spring  surpassed my expectations even though they were astronomically high already. It is now my favorite, having edged out  The Penderwicks on Gardam Street . Ever After High: The Storybook of Legends

A review featuring Bit, age 9. I didn't want to read The Storybook of Legends . On the one hand, it's by Shannon Hale and I often like her books. On the other, it is a commissioned series to go with a line of dolls produced by Mattel. Ugh. But it was nominated for the Cybils and then Bit found the book in the Scholastic flyer and had to have it. (She misses having a fairy tale series to follow since The Sisters Grimm has ended.)
